In the weekend of the 30st of September and the 1st of October, we went to GameForce, the biggest gaming event in Belgium. The success of this event grows from year to year and PixelStellar discovered this for the first time.
GameForce is one of the few Belgian conventions that mainly focuses on video games and is undoubtedly the largest meeting of gamers in the country. Until now, the video game industry was well represented in “geek” conventions such as FACTS, Comic Con, and Atsusacon. However, this mostly remained a small part of the convention. We cannot compare GameForce to Gamescom, E3, or PAX, but it is a show that grows at its own pace and begins to gather a nice little community around it.
Our stand at GameForce
Since we have never been there, we did not know what to expect. We were overwhelmed with the big turnout at GameForce, but also at our booth. At our booth, people could discover the world of cloud gaming on the highest graphics and 60 fps, by playing Project CARS 2 or FIFA 2018 on PixelStellar Alpha.
We also had a contest at our booth were visitors had a chance to win a Raspberry Pi! On a Raspberry Pi, you can play all your favourite games with PixelStellar.
Other stands at GameForce
There was a nice balance between the indie game developers and the big AAA-titles.
The Belgian game industry was present at the Indie Village. They presented a lot of nice Belgian games such as Antigraviator, Erdilon, Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2, Domiverse, RPG Erdilon, and The Poisened Pawn.
Ubisoft presented the playable versions of its next three hits. First of all, the upcoming role-playing video game South Park: The Fractured But Whole which will be released on the 17th of October. Second, the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Origins which will be released on the 27th of October. And last but not least, Far Cry 5, which will be released on the 27th of February next year.
Nintendo was present with Metroid Samus Returns on 3DS. However, it was mainly the playable version of Super Mario Odyssey (27th of October) that attracted the crowds.
Sony showed many upcoming games like Detroit: Become Human (2018) and Gran Turismo Sport (18th of October). Moreover, the Japanese manufacturer also hosted Call of Duty WWII and Destiny 2. Sony also placed its Playstation VR in the spotlight with playable versions of Bravo Team and The Inpatient.
Of course, you could not miss the nice cosplayers. The Facebook album with the pictures we took will be online soon. Great entertainment was offered by the BelgianBeerCafe, the hot retro beach and the GameForce theater. But also by the eSports arena. Here, you could play competitive games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends.
Today, the 1st of October, we are also at GameForce with our gaming booth in the Indie Village, booth no 44 in the main game street. So, if you are at GameForce today, make sure you stop by our booth to learn about our cloud gaming platform and to have a chance to win a Raspberry Pi! See you there!
